78 Nigerian students arrive Russia on Scholarship — Embassy

The Nigerian Embassy in Moscow said that 78 Nigerians in scholarships to study various courses have arrived in Russia.

The students, who are part of the second batch of the 2020/2021 academic year scholarship under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA), arrived at Vnukovo International Airport, on December 6, according to a statement from the embassy.

Officials at the Nigerian Embassy, ​​Moscow, received the thirty-two (32) researchers, accompanied by two (2) Federal Grants Board (FSB) officials.

“The first group of forty-six (46) students arrived earlier on November 22, 2021, accompanied by officials from the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB), Abuja.

“Students are currently undergoing compulsory language courses at various universities in Russia,” the statement said.

She said that scientists will be trained in different specialization areas, such as general medicine, aerospace engineering, chemical technology, nuclear physics and technology, mechatronics and robotics, nanotechnology and micro-systems engineering.

The statement noted that Russia has consistently maintained excellent bilateral relations with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and since then, during the Soviet era, has offered many scholarship opportunities to train Nigerian professionals in various fields.

“Every year, more than eighty-five (85) Nigerian students are awarded scholarships to study in Russia.

“The number is increasing annually. In 2021, more than one hundred Nigerian scholarship students, who are currently studying almost, are scheduled to arrive before the end of the year.”
