Airtel, BSNL, Jio, Excitel Broadband Plans for Students

The demand for internet at home has increased many times in recent times whether it is for live streaming and gaming, working from home, online learning or small business. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) offer a large variety of broadband plans designed to meet the needs of their target user base. Since the beginning of the pandemic, students across the country have come to rely on the Internet for nearly all of their learning. The major internet service providers in the country offer their low cost broadband plans which suit the students in terms of affordability as well as performance. Listed below are the plans that students looking for inexpensive broadband plans can opt for.

Airtel’s “Basic Plan”

Airtel using its own Fibernet technology provides high speed internet of up to 1 Gbps. With Airtel Xstream Fiber, users are there to get a better, improved, faster and smooth internet experience across multiple devices as it offers fiber optic internet connection. Airtel offers plenty of options while choosing a broadband plan, however, students can access the “Basic” package which offers 40Mbps internet speed at a monthly cost of Rs 499 excluding taxes.

Users get 3.3 TB or 3,300 GB of monthly Fair Use Policy (FUP) data with this plan. Airtel also offers “Airtel Thank You Benefits” with broadband plans which in this case include a subscription to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy.

100Mbps plan from Excitel

Excitel provides broadband connection only at 100Mbps, 200Mbps or 300Mbps. Thus, the 100Mbps plan is the cheapest plan that students can use and the monthly cost becomes much lower if users opt for the annual plan. The 100Mbps plan from Excitel comes with different rates and durations to meet the needs of the user.

Fiber First from Excitel offers users a 100Mbps plan for a month at Rs 699. Users can also avail the plan for 3 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months for Rs 565, Rs 508, Rs 490, Rs 424 and Rs 399 respectively. However, the 9 month plan is only available to new subscribers to the service. Moreover, the plans from Excitel are really unlimited and there is no limit on FUP data.

30Mbps plan from JioFiber

JioFiber offers a 30Mbps internet speed data plan at Rs 399 per month. The FUP limit set in this plan is 3300 GB or 3.3 TB. With JioFiber’s 30Mbps plan, students can access seamless and seamless internet across multiple devices. Besides high speed internet, users also get symmetrical download and upload speed from the provider. This is rather one of the cheaper plans from the ISP and as such it does not include subscriptions to any OTT platform like the higher priced plans from JioFiber, however, it is one of the best options when users are looking for cost effective plans.

2 cost-effective BSNL plans

The government-owned telecommunications company BSNL under Bharat Fiber Broadband offers exciting plans for students who want pocket-friendly options with adequate internet speed. BSNL’s “Fiber Basic” and “Fiber Basic Plus” plans offer internet speeds of 30Mbps and 60Mbps respectively. The Fiber Basic plan comes at 449 rupees per month, while Fiber Basic Plus costs users 599 rupees per month.

Both of these rates are not GST exclusive and both plans come with a FUP limit of 3300 GB or 3.3 TB. In addition to the data limit, users can enjoy an internet speed of 2Mbps, and both plans offer a 90% discount of up to 500 rupees on rent on the first bill.
