The Stanly County Extension & Community Association will award the $1,000 Betty Watson Scholarship to a Stanley County student.
To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be a resident of Stanley County. The application deadline must be received by April 1.
Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in Human and Family Development Studies, Child Development, Nutrition, Food Science, or Geriatric Education and Counseling with a focus in family and consumer sciences at an accredited college or university. Adults continuing their education in an accredited college program will also be considered. All applicants will be considered regardless of race, color, creed, national origin, gender, age, disability, or sexual orientation.
Ranking criteria for applicants will include:
• 25 percent – intending to specialize in human development and family studies, child development, nutrition, food science, or agricultural extension education.
• 25 percent – academic achievement (cumulative average / grade rank).
• 25 percent – College Aptitude (scored scores) or SAT/ACT scores;
• 25 percent – initiative, personality and/or leadership ability.
