The Michigan Soccer League received a major boost in its tag team division last week, with Lou Groza award-winning player Jake Moody announcing that he will be returning for a fifth season with the Wolverines.
Days later, reserve kicker Cole Husung entered the NCAA transfer gate, sources confirmed to 247Sports Wednesday morning.
Husung, who has attempted a one-game start this season against Northern Illinois and provided touchdown, hails from Floyds Noobs, Indiana. Playing for Floyd Central, 5-foot-9, 194-pounder cHe flipped on eight field goals (49 yards) as the lead and also made 38 attempts from 44 extra points. He hit four field goals of 46 yards or more when he was a high school student, threw 41 touchballs in 63 kickoffs and averaged 34.9 yards per kick on 38 kicks in high school. He was voted into the first team by Indiana State for his efforts.
Hosung is believed to be majoring in the Michigan program, and Hosung could be seeking a scholarship to play elsewhere. Several Michigan walkers have succeeded in this, perhaps the most notable being Hunter Reynolds, who moved to Utah State last season. Hosung could also pull out of the gate and head back to Michigan.
So far this season, Michigan has seen several reserve players enter the NCAA transfer gate. Striker Nolan Rummler entered the gate during the season and has since committed to Kent State, while Andre Seldon (New Mexico State), George Johnson (UMass) and Darion Green Warren (Nevada) entered the gate shortly after the season ended. In addition, linebacker Anthony Solomon (Arizona), offensive lineman Chuck Velega (Minnesota) and quarterback Dan Villari (Syracuse) entered the gate and found new schools.
Michigan has also succeeded in one transfer so far, at Virginia Center Victor Oluwatime.
