Each year, the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Education Foundation awards scholarships to deserving students who are continuing their post-secondary education. Isabel is one of eighty countries to receive this year’s award at the national level. Isabel was previously the recipient of the Ontario Navy League of Excellence Medal for her distinguished career as a Marine Cadet of Belleville.

Advancing through the ranks to PO1 she was already a captain in the Belleville Sea Cadet Corps. An accomplished student, she excelled as a musician playing the alto saxophone and was selected to be a member of the Prince Edward County Youth Jazz Ensemble. She has been involved in marketing, mentoring and coaching teams. On Saturdays at noon, she can often be found in the “kitchen” preparing lunch for the other band members.

She is currently studying kinesiology at Queen’s University.

The Bellville C Cadet Corps, supported by the Canadian Navy’s Belleville Branch, meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at their building at 16 South Front St in Belleville. The program is a free program open to young people between the ages of 12 and 18. For more information, search their website at www.bellevilleseacadets.com or call 613962-4647.
