Bumpers College Tops $1 Million in Scholarship Funding for First Time

Over the past five years, 70 percent of students who have applied and completed the application process have been awarded at least one scholarship.

The Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food, and Life Sciences has reached a milestone by awarding more than $1 million in scholarships for the first time.

According to Project Director of Scholarships, Development and External Relations Heather Parks, the college and its nine units have provided $1,035,000 million in scholarship funding available to students for the 2021-22 year.

A total of 576 scholarships were awarded to 368 different students. At the college level, the Dean’s Office has awarded 204 scholarships to 185 students, worth more than $352,000.

“We are very excited to be able to provide this support to our students,” said Dean Decio Fields. “We want to do everything we can to enable students to get here, find their degree and career path, stay here, and get that degree. The number of scholarships offered, the total amount you deserve and the average for each scholarship helped us get there a lot. From individuals and families and their help. Over the past five years, 70 percent of students who applied for a Bumpers College scholarship and completed the application process were awarded at least one scholarship.

The average amount for each scholarship is approximately $1,700. Students across the college who apply for scholarships are offered an average of $2,500 in total funding from Bumpers College.
