The Cardinal Foundation has donated a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to one student at Gadsden State Community College. Students who are registered by January 13th will be eligible for a scholarship withdrawal.
Students who registered for classes between October 27 and January 13 will automatically be included in the drawing – which will take place on January 18 – as long as they remain enrolled and their class attendance is verified.
“We appreciate the Cardinal Foundation for its willingness to provide an incentive for students to enroll in classes for the spring semester,” Dr. Aletta Williamson, Dean of Enrollment and Retention, said in a college news release. This scholarship can be a game changer for a student who needs additional financial assistance. With tuition fees at Gadsden State among the most affordable in the Southeast, this scholarship can go a long way.”
Gadsden State tuition and fees total $164 per credit hour, which Williamson said is significantly lower than all of the state’s public and private four-year universities.
“Not only is Gadsden state affordable, but our staff does everything they can to help eligible students obtain financial aid or scholarships to pay for their educational expenses,” Williamson said. “When considering tuition, fees, room and board, and travel expenses, students can save about $32,000 by choosing to attend Gadsden State rather than attending a four-year university.”
The spring semester and Mini 1 classes are scheduled to begin Friday, but have been canceled due to weather concerns. Prospective students still have time to apply and register for classes.
“We want to give everyone a great opportunity to apply and register in Gadsden State,” Williamson said. “It is never too late to invest in yourself during this new year by continuing your education.”
