The following information comes from EBRPSS:
After reviewing the most recent community prevalence data; infection rates among staff and students; On the advice of our Health Advisory Committee, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System will continue current mask guidance as of fall 2021.
Upon return of staff on January 3, 2022, all staff, students, and visitors to EBRPSS sites will be required to wear a mask or face covering.
The Health Advisory Committee is composed of leading area epidemiologists, infectious disease experts, and Louisiana Department of Health counselors and physicians. The committee’s recommendation took into account a number of factors, among them infection rates among staff and students; community infection rates; and hospitalization area.
The Health Advisory Committee and EBRPSS will reassess our data at the school and community level at the end of January to determine if it is safe to consider optional mask placement.
“We have continued to make all public health decisions based on the latest available data and on the advice of our healthcare professionals. The health and safety of our staff and students always comes first. We will continue to evaluate the data and will consider masking my elective at such a time when it is safe for both students and staff do so,” stated Supervisor Sito Narcisse, Ed. Dr..
The school system will continue to benefit from all proven mitigation efforts, including deep cleaning and disinfection of rooms; periodic hand washing testing of the employee and staff; improved air purification systems; and other proven mitigation efforts.
