Finland: D Visa Would Accelerate the Entry of Students & Researchers With a Residence Permit

In addition, according to Finland’s government, the changes would contribute to education as well as work-based migration streamline entry procedures, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

Previously, it was reported that the government submitted a relevant proposal to Parliament on June 16.

Authorities in Finland have clarified that the D visa researchers can be issued to students, employees as well as employers, executive companies and the family members of the members of the above.

According to the government’s announcement, the Ministry of the Finnish Immigration Service would issue a D visa in connection with a positive residence permit decision; Thus, those who received a residence permit could travel to Finland faster than at present.

Such a process would also facilitate the timely start of studies, research and work, and also ease the recruitment of experts as well as strengthening Finland’s attractiveness.

“Finland’s goal is to have a balanced immigration policy in which employment and education-based immigration play a significant role. The changes presented now are part of a comprehensive package of measures by which the government aims to respond to the shortage of experts and increase Finland’s attractiveness,” Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen pointed out in this regard.

Besides, the amendment to the Aliens Act has been put together in the draft legislation of the Ministry of the Interior, which would allow the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to issue a temporary residence permit to young people of diplomatic families arriving in Finland until the age 20.

“This would be in line with international practice. At present, young people in diplomatic families must apply for an extension of their residence permit from the Finnish Immigration Service after the age of 18,” the statement clarifies.

Authorities in Finland previously announced the launch of a fast migration lane for professionals as well as growth entrepreneurs, which makes it possible for them as well as their families to grow entrepreneurs, permitting them as well as their families to receive a residence permit in 14 days .
