FinnU to raise money for student scholarships this Giving Tuesday | News, Sports, Jobs

On November 30, the University of Finland will raise funds for student grants for Giving Tuesday. Proceeds collected on Giving Tuesday play an important role in giving FinnU students financial support and good academic opportunities.

Last year, the Finnish Giving Tuesday campaign raised more than $30,000 in 24 hours through a donor match. All donations received last year went to FinnU’s annual scholarship programs to help keep FinnU affordable for current and future students.

“Scholarships are of great importance to me. It means that some people believe that students can offer something new to the world and that they believe in us. They believe in our benefit to society,” Andrei R., a junior FinnU business student and scholarship recipient. “Without these scholarships, I simply would not have had the opportunity to study here. This was my dream and it has now come true thanks to the donors.”

For the 2021-22 academic year, Finlandia has distributed $3.2 million in student grants and financial support. FinnU provides financial support to 100 percent of its full-time local students.

With scholarship support such as the Rise Together Free Full Tuition Scholarship, the powerful $10,000 Finnish Scholarship, the $2,500 Lake Effect Need-Based Scholarship, and the $4,000 Commitment Scholarship, Finlandia continues to earn awards for its affordability. Awards given to FinnU include Intelligent.com’s 14th 2021 Best Colleges in Michigan and 8th among 25 Best Colleges in the country by OnlineU’s 2020 Best Christian College Online.

As usual, charitable donations to the university are tax deductible. This year, as a result of the CARES Act, individual taxpayers may deduct up to $300 ($600 for married – joint taxpayers) on their 2021 tax return, even if they take the standard deduction.

Donations are officially made on Tuesday 30 November this year, but FinnU will accept donations anytime before and on the day at finlandia.edu/givingtuesday.

Donations can be made on Tuesday the following day
