Foundation Launches ‘Applaud & Give Back’ Program for Performing Arts Students –

December 29, 2021

The Foundation launches the “Praise and Reply” program for students of theatrical arts

The Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids (AOK) Foundation is proud to announce the launch of a new “Applaud & Give Back” programme, sponsored by the Grunin Foundation. The program will provide funding for young people between the ages of 18 and 22, who have a financial need to continue taking performing arts classes previously funded by AOK during their final year of high school.

So far, AOK has been able to fund disadvantaged students for dance, acting, instrumental music, or vocal lessons up to age 18, while they are still in high school. Unfortunately, many of these students were unable to afford to continue these lessons after graduation and were forced to stop doing something they loved. These lessons were often their extended family, a constant in their lives, and an opportunity for vibrant creative expression through life’s challenges. Through the Applaud & Give Back program, and with the generous support of the Grunin Foundation, AOK will be able to provide financial support to funded alumni during their final year of high school.

AOK also understands how important it is for this age group to gain professional work experience and have mentors to guide them. Students in the Applaud & Give Back program must donate 40 hours annually to the foundation, where they gain volunteering experience, learn about the inner workings of a nonprofit, help support the organization, and are given the tools they need to succeed in the work environment. This program provides a holistic experience, where participants also meet and interact with others who are funded through the program, meet with sponsors and donors and, if applicable, perform with the AOK Performance Group.

Jodi Greenwald, CEO and co-founder of the Zzak G. Applaud Our Kids Foundation, said: “The Foundation is very grateful for the Grunin Foundation’s continued generous support. There are many nonprofits that provide benefits to children, but once they reach the age of 18, they lose out. These benefits. If a high school student is funded by AOK and continues to meet the financial need requirements, they can apply for funding until they are 22. We feel young people just starting out still need a creative outlet and feel supported. No Applaud & Funding Give Back not only continues lessons, but also provides professional development and experience for those in the program.Students can volunteer to help out at events, do office or computer work, or even perform while gaining skills they can put on their resume and making new connections that can help them throughout Their professional journey When the Grunin Foundation learned about the launch of this new program, they immediately agreed to be the first sponsor. The Grunin Foundation supported the Applaud Our Kids Foundation with several Ways since its inception in 2017, not only through funding but through key advice and introductions to the community. We appreciate all they’ve done and are preparing for the influx of Applaud & Give Back participants as the students who are currently funded are growing up.”
