After careful consideration, we have decided to continue with the graduation ceremonies planned for the month of January. This decision comes after detailed discussion and risk assessments of the events. We continue to closely follow UK government and local public health guidelines to protect the safety of our visitors, staff and students.
Our celebrations are a time to celebrate and we want to make sure that our graduates are able to do so safely. As a result, we are taking all necessary precautions, including:
- face coverings All staff, students and guests attending the festivities are required to wear a face covering at all times unless the person has a legitimate exemption (stickers will be provided if they wish to those exempt). Graduates can remove their face coverings while crossing the stage and for photography only.
- Lateral flow test Graduates and their guests are strongly encouraged to take lateral flow tests before attending their ceremony, and only attend if the result is negative.
- Cleaning and ventilation – Curve Theater is deeply cleaned every morning and between every show/event and spot cleaning and sanitizing are optimized throughout the day. In addition, all areas are treated with antiviral spray. The air handling system has also been optimized to provide cool fresh air in all performance spaces to ensure the building remains well ventilated. All fans are regulated to increase fan speed in proportion to the amount of carbon dioxide in the air, resulting in cleaner, fresher air delivered to the hall during the day’s events.
We will of course continue to assess the risks involved in hosting the festivities and will carefully monitor any change in government guidance. Should further changes be made to our celebrations, all attendees will be contacted as soon as possible. Updates will also be added to our website and frequently asked questions.
We continue to advise graduating students not to make any non-refundable travel or accommodation reservations, as government Covid-19 restrictions and advice remain to change.
We look forward to celebrating our long-awaited celebrations with Class of 2020 and Class of 2022 in stunning style at the award-winning Curve Theatre.
