Grunt Style Foundation awards grant for three College of DuPage student veterans

Three DuPage senior students receive additional funding for their post-service endeavors thanks to a grant from the Grunt Style Foundation.

The college based in Glen Ellyn is the only community college in the country to receive this funding.

Latoya Nabors-Ford (Navy), Jillian Wohlert (Navy), and Greg Belizaire (Army) will receive scholarships of $1,650 each, which can be used for educational and personal expenses.

Founded in 2021, the Grunt Style Foundation provides resources to veterans, service members, and their family members to support their mental health and wellness.

The generous scholarship from the national organization will provide much-needed support to College of Pharmacy students and former members of the military as they return to civilian life.

“DuPage College proudly supports veteran students in their pursuit of higher education. More than 1,000 of our students are associated with the military, including veterans, dependents, and those currently serving,” said DuPage College President Dr. Brian Caputo. “We offer a range of services that include assistance with federal or state benefits, financial aid and referrals to local veterans organizations. Our goal is to support the men and women who have served our country, and help them take the next step in their careers.”

“The Grunt Style Foundation is proud to stand alongside service members and veterans who have made the decision to return to school during or after their service,” said Tiffany Orner, Director of the Grunt Style Foundation.

“Ensuring that every military student or veteran has the resources they need and deserve to be successful in their academic pursuits is our goal,” Orner said. “The Grunt Style Foundation will continue to support all military, past and present, who choose to continue their education with the goal of making their transition from the military community to the civilian sector as smooth as possible. This we will defend.”
