Hallock Awarded WIU President’s Scholarship

February 22, 2022

MACOMB, IL – High school senior Drew Hallow, of Greenfield, IL, has been awarded a Western Illinois University President’s Scholarship, in conjunction with the Western Commitment Scholarship. Together, these scholarships cover four years of tuition, fees, a double residence hall room and standard board for eight semesters.

“The reputation of the agricultural program drew me to apply to WIU,” said Hallock. “My father, uncle and several other family members attended WIU and had a very positive experience. The deciding factor was definitely the visit I had, hosted by the ag department. The current, and former student presenters made the Western experience feel as though it is the right choice for me. Receiving the President’s Scholarship is an added bonus to an already exciting opportunity.”

Hallock plans to major agricultural in science and/or business.

In high school, Hallock participated in FFA, National Honor Society (president), Student Council, football, basketball, Senior Olympiad and the American Red Cross blood drive.

At Western, Hallock plans to explore the agricultural opportunities and looks forward to participating in the Centennial Honors College.

After graduating from WIU, Hallock plans to work in the agricultural field.

To qualify for the WIU President’s Scholarship, students must first be awarded WIU’s Commitment Scholarship. The scholarship decision is also weighted by proof of volunteer and community service.
