Harvard Business School Club Community Partners Invitation for CT Nonprofit Leaders

Harvard Business School Club of CT Community Partners Announces Invitation for CT Nonprofit Leaders to Apply for a scholarship to an HBS Executive Education Class

Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management Application Deadline: March 14

For each of the past seventeen years, the Harvard Business School Club of Connecticut Community Partners has granted scholarships to Connecticut nonprofit leaders to attend the Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management (SPNM) executive education program. Click HERE to learn more about SPNM.

Some of our state’s best nonprofit leaders have attended this program with our scholarships, and unanimously report that SPNM was “the most outstanding executive education experience” of their entire careers. This year, SPNM will be held at the HBS campus in Boston July 10-16, 2022. It is an intensive seven-day program leading HBS faculty and over 150 nonprofit leaders from around the world.

We are beginning our 2022 SPNM scholarship selection process. We invite outstanding nonprofit executives to apply for our full scholarship of $6,700 which includes tuition, supplies, room, and board. A list of past SPNM award winners is HERE.

Requirements for SPNM

Applicants must serve as Executive Director or Chief Executive Officer and should have at least 10 years of professional work experience. Their organization must be of scale, generally requiring at least five full-time employees and an annual budget in excess of $750,000. We want applicants who have a history of career growth and will profit from the SPNM experience in their current organization as well as wherever their career will take them. We are looking for current and future leaders in the nonprofit sector.

Timing and process for the HBS Community Partners scholarship

  • Applications for the scholarship are required by March 14, 2022. We will select a few finalists for in-person interviews and select the scholarship winner by the end of April. We will also pre-clear our selection with HBS, so that there is no need to re-apply with HBS for SPNM. Do not apply directly to HBS. Your application for the scholarship is the HBS SPNM application sent to HBS of CT Community Partners.
  • The SPNM application is available by downloading a fill-in PDF HERE

In 2021, to honor Lee Barnes, one of the most significant contributors to the success of Community Partners, We renamed our scholarship to the “Lee Barnes Memorial Scholarship for Non-Profit Leaders.” During the 16 years Lee worked with us, he volunteered on 42% of our projects and 53% of our volunteers worked on at least one project with him.
