HC seeks info on govt schools with no students | Allahabad News

Prayagraj: Hearing the PIL raises the issue of the poor condition of state-run primary schools, the Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to provide an affidavit (response) which includes information indicating all schools in Uttar Pradesh where no students are studying now.
Raising the issue of the poor condition of primary schools in Draganj district of Prayagraj district, the International Law School claimed that the quality of education imparted to students is not up to standard and, consequently, many parents have stopped sending their children to government schools.
Hearing a Public Interest Action (PIL) brought by Nand Lal, a judicial body consisting of Chief Justice Rajesh Pindal and Judge Piyush Agrawal, in its order dated 7 December, requested a response from the state government and adjourned the case for the next hearing on 28 March 2022.
The petitioner sought to investigate the affairs of Madhyamik School in Draganj in Prayagraj district, negligence of teachers in imparting education to students and embezzlement of funds issued by the state government for maintenance of the school.
Referring to an inquiry report from the Department of Education Officer (DEO) in the case, it was submitted that at present there is not even a single student in the pre-secondary school and this occurred due to the negligence of teachers and the Department of Education.
It was also recognized that the standard of education in other state-run schools is very poor, and many teachers do not even know fourth-level English.
