Idaho Students can Apply now for National Flight Academy Scholarships | Idaho

BOISE – Idaho students interested in aviation and space are invited to apply for a scholarship at the National Flight Academy in Pensacola, Florida this summer. Eighth through tenth graders (current grades 7 through 9) who live in Idaho and dream of going into space, learning to fly, meeting new people, and going new places are eligible. There are only 10 scholarships available for Idaho students, so those interested are encouraged to apply early.

Students can experience one of the world’s most exciting and immersive learning adventures aboard the world’s largest simulated aircraft carrier.

The U.S. Department of Commerce Federal Highway Administration is collaborating with the Idaho Department of Transportation to offer 10 full scholarships for this program, July 16-23. The scholarships cover housing, meals, and round-trip travel across the country to Pensacola, Florida. For more information, contact Jessica Phillips via phone call or text at (208) 806-1872 or by email at CivilRights@itd.idaho.gov.

To apply for the programme, visit: National Flight Academy Camp from 25th June to 3rd July 2022 (8th to 10th grades only) | Job Details tab | Job pages (governmentjobs.com)

While “deploying” to the National Flight Academy, selected applicants will travel in escorted groups to Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida where they will reside on a mock multi-deck aircraft carrier.

The first deck houses the kitchen, mess deck, administration spaces, and main simulation bays. The second deck includes most of the dedicated academic space and contains all of the simulation and immersion center spaces. The third and fourth floors provide housing and space to build the pilot team for students.

Students enjoy theme park-style excitement surrounded by advanced technology, flight simulators, and virtual reality missions that spark imagination and encourage learning. While living aboard an aircraft carrier, AMBITION eXperimental Pilots (AXPs) play the role of Marine Pilots aboard a modern aircraft carrier. Assignments gradually become more challenging throughout the week as AXPs develop their aeronautical sciences skills as well as their communication skills
