Community Coffee

Hebron Community Center holds a Community Coffee from 8:30 to 10 am every Monday and Wednesday in the Barclay Building on Frankstown Road. For more information, visit hebroncc.org.

Scholarship available

The Bob Williams Rotary Memorial Scholarship Program announces the availability of scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year.

In recent years, the club has awarded at least eight scholarships at $5,000 each. High school seniors in Allegheny and Beaver counties are eligible to apply. Vocational students, GED students and those attending parochial, charter and private schools also are eligible.

Students must have a 2.5 or higher grade point average and also must complete an essay that highlights their community/school service as part of the application submission.

Complete application and criteria materials, including application deadline, are available on the Rotary District 7305 website, Scholarship Link, or from area high school counselors.

PALS meeting

Plum Area Ladies Society will hold its March meeting at 6:30 pm March 2 at Plum Community Center, 499 Center New Texas Road.

Plum Area Ladies Society is a service/social organization open to women from Plum, Penn Hills, Monroeville and surrounding areas. Newcomers are welcome to come to a meeting, always held at Plum Community Center at 6:30 on the first Wednesday of each month, September through April.

Katy Martinez of Animal Protectors of Allegheny County will speak on the mission and operation of Animal Protectors and may bring some of its furry residents to visit. In keeping with the speaker, the service project will be to donate items needed by the organization. Needed items include any brand of wet/dry dog ​​and cat food in the original container with an expiration date and lot number; pet toys; blankets and towels; creamy peanut butter (must not contain xylitol); canned pumpkin; canned chicken; and uncooked white rice. As always, PALS will be collecting paper goods and monetary donations for Plum Food Pantry.

Members may sign up for the May Banquet, to be held at the American Legion on May 1. Cost is $20 per person.

For the Ladies Day Out on March 26, signed-up members will tour Millie’s Ice Cream Works factory in Homestead, with an ice cream treat at the end.
