LANL Foundation Opens College Scholarship Applications

LANL news:

ESPAÑOLA – The Foundation of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is now accepting applications for a four-year undergraduate scholarship.

While high school seniors are the primary audience, undergraduate students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at a post-secondary institution are encouraged to apply as well.

“This year, we are excited to reach a historic milestone to award $10 million to more than 2,000 students since the scholarship began in 1998,” said Mike Amerman, Director of the LANL Foundation Scholarship Program. “The demand for scholarships to offset the increasing cost of higher education is greater than ever, and we are grateful to our community of donors and supporters who have made these scholarships possible. Whether a student aspires to become a teacher, healthcare provider, scientist or entrepreneur, we offer Scholarships to help make their dream of getting a college degree possible without being burdened with debt.”

Awards range from $1,000 to $20,000 for students from Northern New Mexico who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in any field of study. Eligible applicants are automatically considered for any and all applicable scholarship opportunities. Applicants are assessed on academic merit, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to service. Some awards have additional criteria, including financial need, specific fields of study, Native American and Hispanic ancestry, flexibility and design, and affiliation with specific schools, programs, and communities.

Gold Scholarship 2021 Britney Hsu studies Biosciences and Business at Rice University. She said that the LANL scholarship is of paramount importance in achieving her goals and enabling her to pursue higher education that will help her become a neurologist.

“The LANL scholarship allows me to focus on my studies, enroll in challenging courses and participate in neuroscience,” Hsu said. “Only with this education will I be able to work towards my MD for my goals. I will work with health facilities in Northern New Mexico and other institutions around the world. I will have the opportunity to advance my career, give back and make change “.
