Leicester College achieves international matrix standard – FE News

The College of Education is recognized by the Department of Education for the consistently high quality of information, advice, and guidance provided to students and others

The College of Leicester has reinforced its commitment to providing the highest standards of information provision by achieving the International Matrix Quality Standard for Information Counseling and Extension Services. The College of Leicester has been successful in receiving the award since it was first presented in 2002.

After reviewing the accreditation of the comprehensive matrix by The Growth Company, on behalf of the Department of Education, the College of Leicester has been awarded the quality standard for providing a broad range of information, advice and guidance (IAG) to students, staff, interns and others. Community across various traditional and digital channels including live broadcasts, videos and live chat.

The Matrix standard is the Department of Education’s (DfE) international quality standard for IAG-delivery organizations, ensuring the quality of IAG’s excellent service delivery. It helps information providers improve their services by benchmarking against best practices and offers accreditation to those who meet full standards.

Leicester College’s standardized matrix assessment identified a wide range of strengths in the College’s services including a strong commitment among managers and staff throughout the institution to positively embrace the use of technology to support the delivery of IAG services.

The inspector found “a strong desire within the organization to be instrumental in identifying students’ IAG outcomes and assessing the success of their achievement” through follow-up processes and learning plans.

The report also notes that the college has ‘strong ethics in place throughout the organization in supporting students to explore their ambitions and advancement’ and that ‘a neutral and objective approach to exploring individual students’ choices and choices remains largely at the heart of their work’.
