Maize and Blue runs deep for PWO commit Shomari Stone II

Michigan has seen many contributors over the years with presentations, and Jim Harbaugh has brought in so many talented players, who have gone on to earn scholarships during their careers and make an impact.

The Wolverines have put together another impressive walking group favorite this course, which includes defensive linebacker Shomari Stone II for Washington (DC) St. John’s 2022.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound defender played a pivotal role in St. John’s perfect season and won the WCAC Championship on his enduring Good Counsel strength this year.

On the recruiting front, the talented youngster was offered a favorite offer by the Wolverine family over the summer and it didn’t take him long for him to think about it especially coming from a family bleed Miz and Blue with his father, Shomary Stone. Grandma attended university in previous years.

And while the football aspect was certainly very attractive, what Michigan could offer off the field stood out just as well when choosing the Wolverines.

“The University of Michigan has been named the No. 1 public university in the United States by the Wall Street Journal in its 2022 university rankings,” Stone II told The Michigan Insider. “It’s an honor to come to a team that cares about my education as much as my performance on the field.”

Having been in Ann Arbor before, he returned to campus for the season finale against Ohio State and witnessed Michigan’s big victory over their arch rivals.

“I loved Joe Michigan,” said Stone II. “I have been watching Michigan Ohio State games every year since I was a kid. I was happy to see history at the Big House, especially as I went to my freshman year in Michigan.”

It was an experience he’ll never forget and he’s looking forward to wearing the blue corn in the next chapter of his life.

“I loved Ann Arbor,” said Stone II. “It really felt like home. They kissed me with open arms like family.”

The Wolverines are also recruiting some of his teammates as rookie defensive lineman David Ojiegbe and offensive lineman Jordan Seton sophomore.
