Canton University-Malon is hosting a free financial aid workshop to inform families of the many resources available to them in scholarships, grants and loans. The online program College Can Be Affordable is scheduled for 6 p.m. January 27.

With say yes to education

NORTH CANTON – Walsh University recently pledged its support to Say Yes to Education, a national non-profit organization committed to making a college degree affordable and obtainable for public high school graduates, according to a press release. Walsh also joined the Say Yes to National High Education Compact initiative, agreeing to cover the cost of full tuition and mandatory fees for a select number of eligible students.

As part of the agreement, Walsh will provide full scholarships to up to five new students annually from families with a family income of $75,000 or less in Say Yes communities, with a focus on students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

The local Say Yes Cleveland Scholarship Fund has committed to providing additional grants, known as Choice Grants, to qualified applicants whose family income exceeds the income threshold.

These scholarships are valued at up to $5,000 annually.

Mount Union offers early guarantee trails for PA and PT . programs

ALLIANCE – Current and future undergraduate students at the University of Mount Union will be eligible for an early guarantee in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (PA) and Doctor of Physiotherapy (PT) degree programs beginning in the fall of 2022, according to a press release.

Mount Union’s PA and PT programs will provide an early guarantee of up to 10 seats and eight seats, respectively, to undergraduate students registered with Mount Union during the time of application.

To be eligible to be considered for the PA track, students must complete three semesters at Mount Union in a Bachelor of Science degree program, maintain a grade point average of 3.4, and complete a list of pre-requisite courses.

The PT track requires students to have obtained at least 32 credits, 24 of which must be in a science-related field, maintain a 3.3 GPA in all coursework, and full eligibility requirements prior to enrollment. Students with a 3.6 GPA as a junior will not be required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

The Board of Trustees of King Saud University approves two new majors

Kent – The Kent State University Board of Trustees recently approved two new degree programs, according to a press release. New majors – Sports, Exercise and Performance Psychology within the Bachelor of Science degree and Emerging Media and Technology major within the Master of Science degree – will help meet the growing demand for these types of programs and provide opportunities for students to find careers in these growing fields.

The College of Education, Health, and Human Services and the College of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum Studies will establish the Sports, Exercise and Performance Psychology major under the Bachelor of Science degree, effective in fall 2022, pending approval by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

The College of Communication and Information will establish the Emerging Media and Technology major within the Master of Science degree, effective in fall 2022, pending approval by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.
