Kansas Day: Noon at Nirman – February 2

Tap into your roots and celebrate Late Kansas Day while learning about the inspirational pieces of Lawrence-based artist Hong Chun Zhang. Join us February 2 at noon at the Nirman Museum of Contemporary Art for this free event.

Great Books Small Lecture Series: “Like a Sower” – February 2

The Great Books Small Lecture Series is designed to introduce readers to the Turning Point writings that changed world views. Hosted by Monica Hogan, Professor of English at the JCCC, the event will explore the impact of inequality and climate change in Octavia E. Butler’s novel Like a Sower. Third Thursday • Virtual Presentation for Visiting Artists – 17 February

You don’t have to go far to experience world-renowned artwork and learn about the artists behind the pieces. On February 17 at 3:30 p.m., faculty directors Sam Davis, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, and Misha Kligman, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, will moderate an in-depth virtual discussion featuring artists Roberto Lugo and Emily Salle. This event is free and open to the public, RSVP today.

Youth / Senior Day – February 21

Campus visit events are designed for students who want to learn more about life as a rider. High school seniors are invited to join us on February 21 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. or 1-4 p.m. to learn about everything from financial aid to helpful student resources. An in-depth tour of the campus is also included. After that, all that remains is to apply! Learn more and respond to the invitation to attend.

Korean War Veterans Honor / JCCC Veterans Benefits Concert – February 26

At the Joint Coordination Center, we place great importance on showing appreciation to military personnel, past and present. There are many ways in which we express gratitude to our veterans; One way is to provide scholarship opportunities for those who take classes at JCCC.

Join us for a free classical concert on February 26th at 3pm to show gratitude to Korean veterans and to raise funds for scholarships for veteran students. Contributions will be accepted at the event, or you can donate to the Veterans Scholarships online. This event is free, but tickets are required to enter.
