Georgia got back on track, smashing Michigan to reach the national title game
USA TODAY Sports’ Dan Walken considers Georgia’s 34-11 win over Michigan and what that means for the program, December 31, 2021.
Another name may soon be removed from Michigan’s football roster.
Reserve quarterback Dan Villary entered the NCAA transfer gate on Thursday, becoming the fifth member of the squad to do so since Monday.
He was preceded by three defenders – Darion Green Warren, Andre Seldon and George Johnson. So did full back Anthony Suleiman.
Villarri will be seeking a chance to end his college career elsewhere after playing 26 catches and completing 1 of 3 pass attempts for 26 yards during his tenure at Ann Arbor. With Cady McNamara beginning to lead the attack and freshman JJ McCarthy emerging as his winger, Villarri and fellow reserve Alan Bowman were the odd men in the quarterback’s room.

Villarri, the former three-star recruit from Massapequa, New York, was a late addition in the 2020 class in Michigan, as coaching staff scrambled to find the quarterback to replace JD Johnson after the Arizona-based prospect was forced to retire medically due to a heart condition.
Johnson is still in the program, has received a scholarship and worked as a student assistant for the past two seasons. But he also entered the gate earlier this month in a bid to restart his football career after being approved by doctors.
Villari’s departure will be offset by the addition of two signatures Jaden Denigal and Alex Orji, a three-star couple. Orji is an early affiliate.
