There are approximately 914,174 town residents in 1,781 Minnesota towns. Towns are found in every region of the state, including the metropolitan area. Some of them, with a population of over 1,000, operate in the same way as a small town. While many towns remain rural agricultural centers, others host a variety of residential, commercial, and light industrial development.
