Career and Readiness Essentials Initiative to provide personal care items, bedding, school supplies, and virtual information sessions
– Susan Fogarty, Head of Public Relations at CAP COM Federal Credit Union
Schenectady, NY, US, December 13, 2021 / EINPresswire.com/ – Through the Career and Readiness Essentials (CARE) Initiative, Mission Accomplished (Mission Accomplished) Transition Services offers a variety of free resources to young people seeking higher education options such as College, Intermediate Year Programs, Trade School and Entrepreneurship Journey. The State University of New York (SUNY) fee for in-state residents attending school for this academic year is $23,350 for on-campus students and $13,280 for mobile students with estimated indirect costs of $3,750-$4,580. Costs for Intermediate Year Programs and Vocational Schools range from $10,000 – $40,000+. Constantly rising costs make the dream of higher education beyond the reach of students who have the incentive to break the cycle of poverty through education.
Virtual scholarship information sessions will focus on various scholarship options for general continuing education as well as financial support options for those pursuing careers or seeking to create social impact businesses in fashion, construction, mural painting, interior design, and social entrepreneurship. These sessions will announce hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships. Additionally, some sessions will feature representatives from institutions. These sessions will take place from January XX 2022 to April XX 2022.
Virtual Gap Year information sessions will educate people about the power of Gap Year programs that help young people explore career options, and enhance career and communication skills. Furthermore, the session will help young people develop their self-identity and vision for their future while developing life skills. Representatives of local and international gap year programs such as Americorps and Amigos will discuss the details of their programs and the financial aid available to take advantage of what they have to offer. These sessions will take place on December 16, 2021 and March 10, 2022.
The Education Sponsorship Package Program provides high school graduates who are transferring to college, trade school, a gap year program or on an entrepreneurial journey with a Sponsorship Package Scholarship. Students who transition to campus life will receive more than $500 in bedding, school supplies, and personal care items. In addition, students who will stay local and commute will receive over $150 in school supplies and personal care items. 50 students from the New York metropolitan area will be selected to receive these sponsorship packages. Students’ selection depends on the quality of their essay. We also invite applicants to share on social media, tag a friend to encourage them to apply and follow the job done on Instagram and Facebook. Submission deadline is 11:59 PM (date required).
In addition to the sponsorship package, recipients will participate in a free 8-hour professional education course over two days. The course is designed to prepare selected students for the transition into the world of business and advanced learning environments. The program will be led by financial advisors, career coaches, influential business leaders, financial aid advisors, and more.
“The sponsorship package has helped me achieve parity with my more affluent peers by easing the burden of purchasing supplies,” said Zagam Shah, recipient of the 2019 and 2021 educational sponsorship package.
“This is so worth it! The scholarship provides everything needed to move into the bedroom. And peace of mind of not having to figure out what all that stuff is! stated Mary Beth, mother of one of the 2018 recipients.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with Mission Accompleted Transition Services to provide support for the Sponsorship Packages Program,” said Susan Fogarty, Chief Relationship Officer, CAP COM Federal Credit Union. Sponsorship packages help empower students transitioning to college, ease financial burdens, and allow students to continue their education. These students are our future, and we are grateful for the work that Mission Accomplished is doing in our community.”
Over 150 sponsorship packages have been offered since 2015 and we are very keen to help even more students. 100% of students who received a sponsorship package are enrolled in college, a surprise year program, trade school, or on an entrepreneurial journey.
