Shot in Buckingham – “At approximately 3:04 p.m., police were dispatched to report the shooting at Complex 4200 of 2nd Route N. Upon arrival, it was determined that the male victim had exited an apartment, met the two suspects in the hallway and confronted him. A physical altercation ensued, One of the suspects produced a firearm. During the fighting, a bullet was fired that damaged the apartment door. The suspects then fled the scene. The officers recovered the firearm.” [ACPD]

Driver hits boy in Falls Church – “At approximately 4:15 p.m., Falls Church Police, Fire and Medical Units in Arlington County were dispatched to report a motor vehicle accident with injuries to a pedestrian, aged approximately 3 to 4 years. The victim was transported to Fairfax Hospital which is currently listed. In critical condition. The driver of the speculative car remained at the scene. The future of Fairlington Station Fairlington is in flux – “The Arlington government closed Fire Station 7 three years ago due to concerns about the structural integrity of its floors. It was determined that it would be too costly to upgrade the facility to resume its original function, but competing planning priorities combined with the COVID crisis have left the building’s future unclear. A community operation to determine the future of the 1940s era in Fairlington, the one bay fire station was suspended during the coronavirus crisis, but could be addressed as early as 2022.” [Sun Gazette]

District fire department staff is impacting the number of firefighting units and emergency medical services available at a time of increased spread of the Covid virus. The local scholarship application is now open – “The Arlington Community Foundation (ACF) today launched its 2022 scholarship application, providing Arlington high school students with an opportunity to compete for more than 70 scholarships worth over $525,000 in student aid.
