New Baltimore Lions gear up for three days of winter fun – The Voice

The New Baltimore Lions Club is gearing up for three days packed with fun winter events. This year’s Winterfest takes place Feb. 25 to 27 in downtown New Baltimore.

Live entertainment, food and beverages, and games activities for all ages are on the schedule.

“Entertainment lineup includes seven bands in total,” said Laura Szymanski, Winterfest chair and 2nd vice president of the Lions Club. “We are thrilled to be welcoming some new entertainment groups to our area.”

The annual Polar Plunge is set to return at 1 pm Feb. 27 at Walter and Mary Burke Park. Awards will be presented for best costume and most money raised.

The ice fishing tournament is scheduled to run from 10 am to 2 pm Feb. 26 at Walter and Mary Burke Park. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Cornhole tournaments are scheduled each day of the event, with an open tournament Feb. 25, a league tournament Feb. 26 and another open tournament Feb. 27. Registration costs $25 and can be completed on the same day as the tournament.

New activities are also slated for this year’s event.

“Winterfest 2022 is scheduled to add a pageant, high school hangout, guns and hoses (tug of war on the shore), road rally and the addition of a soup category to the chili cook-off,” Szymanski said.

There will be two beer tents this year with craft beer selections from Arctic Circle Brewing Co. in Chesterfield Township. The Lion’s Den tent will be set up on Front Street, while the King’s Lair tent will be located on Washington Street.

Tent admission is free until 5 pm Friday and Saturday, and all day Sunday. Admission, which includes both tents, costs $5 per person after 5 pm Friday and Saturday.

Food trucks and vendors will also be onsite all weekend. DJ entertainment will be provided by DJ Big Truck.

“We are anticipating thousands of guests this year, and when they arrive they will find a line of variety food trucks on Front Street with different food options,” Szymanski said. JJ’s Shrimp, Mr. Pitmaster, Batter Up Waffles and the Daily Grind are confirmed. We are awaiting confirmation of chicken, pasta and cookie trucks.”

Winterfest is the Lions Club’s largest annual fundraising event. Proceeds from the three-day event will benefit Lions charities, which include the Anchor Bay Community Foundation, scholarships for Anchor Bay High School students, Eversight, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Meals on Wheels, Project Kidsight, the Salvation Army and many more.
