New Chick-fil-A brings 140 jobs to St. George, offers free food to 100 ‘local heroes’ – St George News

St. George – A new Chick-fil-A store opened last week on the southwest corner of Bluff Street and Blackridge Drive, creating 140 full- and part-time jobs in the St. George’s economy.

Owner and operator Deven Macdonald said they’re also giving away free food for a year to 100 “local champions” impacting Washington County.

“We selected public safety personnel in St. George and Washington City,” MacDonald told St. George’s News. “We have also chosen Washington County school management and teachers, and the staff of local health care institutions as ‘Community Heroes’ recipients, to make a meaningful impact in the St. George community.”

MacDonald attended BYU before working for 14 years in portfolio management at a software company. Then in 2013, he and his wife moved to St. George to open Chick-fil-A Red Rock Commons.

“Nearly a decade ago, my family and I called St. George our home,” he said in a joint press release with St. George’s News. “I am humbled to have the opportunity to continue to make a difference in society that has meant so much to us.”

MacDonald said he is currently looking to fill 140 jobs on Chick-fil-A Bluff Street and Blackridge Drive. He said he has a penchant for working with youth, as he has been active in many youth organizations and has a passion for helping young people develop essential life skills.

“It is no secret that our industry is facing a labor shortage,” MacDonald said, which is one reason our restaurant encourages all interested applicants to apply. I look forward to mentoring my team members and showing care to our neighbors, serving them great food with Chick-fil-A’s signature hospitality.”

Chick-fil-A also offers scholarship opportunities for some team members, as well as flexible schedules, for those interested in pursuing education after high school.

Chick-fil-A Bluff Street and Blackridge Drive are located at 1333 S. Auto Mall Drive, Building 200, near the Veterans Memorial Highway exit. It’s open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
