Applications are accepted for a new scholarship I launched New flyer from America Inc. and AROW Global for Education and Training to enter the new era of mobility.
The new $10,000 Mobility Scholarship, awarded through parent company NFI’s Center for Vehicle Innovation, is open to candidates in the United States and Canada between the ages of 17 and 24 who are currently enrolled in STEM-related programs.
The scholarship focuses on supporting disadvantaged, underrepresented, or underserved individuals who intend to pursue careers in the new age of mobility, ultimately contributing to the advancement of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in public transportation.
The application deadline is January 30th. Applications can be submitted through newflyer.com/VIC.
Provide tangible support and help remove barriers for young people to pursue technology “Education and training are vital to building inclusion and developing healthy candidate pipelines for our industry,” said Janice Harper, Executive Vice President of People and Culture in Non-Food. “Workforce development is a pivotal factor in our shift to zero emissions. This is why we are investing in youth advancement and hope that everyone will have the opportunity to enter our industry and participate meaningfully in the new age of mobility.”
The grant was announced in November 2021 during the APTA EXPO in Orlando, an event in line with the United Nations COP26 Climate Change Conference. COP 26 featured key themes to advance gender equality and demonstrate that science and innovation can provide climate solutions.
The winner will be determined by a selection panel made up of industry leaders from across North America, including the American Public Transportation Association, Latinos in Transit, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, the Transportation Workers’ Federation, the Transportation Diversity Council, AROW Global and New Flyer. The winner will be announced in Spring 2022.
