Walking a tightrope in teaching, research, service and life off campus can be overwhelming for faculty. This spring, the Vice Chancellor’s Office is offering scholarships to Illinois faculty looking to strike a balance through a program offered by the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD).
Faculty Success Program
The summer-long NCFDD Faculty Success Program is a 12-week online experience for designated faculty who want to improve research productivity through intensive accountability, training, peer support, and push work-life balance and personal growth to a whole new level. . This year’s program runs through mid-May through early August. It usually costs participants over $4,500.
As a pilot program this year, the Vice Chancellor’s Office will fund up to eight participants with scholarships of $2,800 each, with the participant’s college or department agreeing to match that amount, covering tuition fees in full.
Apply for the scholarship
Faculty members must apply for this special scholarship, which includes a letter of endorsement from their principal or principal, before Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Individuals selected to receive support will be notified by March 15, and will need to register with the NCFDD for the summer program soon after. Short.
Program outputs
The NCFDD Faculty Success Program has several goals. Faculty members who complete the program will:
- Set achievable personal and professional goals that align with our organization’s priorities and your own values.
- Create a realistic and tangible plan to achieve your goals.
- Create and maintain a healthy and sustainable daily writing habit.
- Develop a portfolio of publications that exceed our organization’s criteria for promotion.
- Better manage the time they spend teaching, serving, researching and writing so that it is in line with their goals.
- Identify obstacles holding them back and strategies to overcome them.
- Prioritize their physical and emotional health.
- Participate in an intensely supportive community that tackles daily challenges, pushes people when they need it most, and celebrates members’ successes as they happen.
