North Island Credit Union offers $1,000 scholarships to Riverside County students – Press Enterprise

North Island Credit Union invites college-bound students in Riverside County to apply for its 2022 Student Scholarship Program.

Through the program, the credit union provides $1,000 scholarships to 20 students each year to recognize Southern California students who are motivated in their academic studies and active in their schools and communities, according to a news release.

“We know the cost of higher education can be a challenge for many families, and we are proud to help these students on their path to realize their educational goals,” Steve O’Connell, chief executive officer of North Island Credit Union, said in the news release. “We look forward to reviewing the many stories of inspiration in our scholarship applications.”

Riverside County college-bound high school seniors and community college students transferring to a four-year university who maintains a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 are eligible to participate. Selection criteria include academic performance, school or community involvement, a letter of recommendation and an essay submission.

For information and to apply online, go to northisland.ccu.com/studentscholarship. Online applications will be accepted through April 8, and recipients will be announced May 2.

The credit union’s Student Scholarship program was created in 2005 to recognize outstanding students in Riverside, San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange counties. Since the program’s creation, the credit union has awarded more than $355,000 in scholarships.
