Introduction by NOVEC
The Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, Virginia, Maryland & Delaware Association of Electric Cooperative Association offers college, vocational, and business scholarships to public and private high school seniors and the homeowner whose families receive electricity from electric co-operatives.
Online applications for novec.com for NOVEC scholarships are due on Monday, March 14, 2022. VMDAEC applications are due on April 1, 2022. Students can apply to both scholarship programs.
NOVEC Scholarship Program
The NOVEC Scholarship Program will provide a $1,500 undergraduate scholarship to qualified graduating high school students in the NOVEC service area in Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford, and Manassas Park counties. The top student overall will receive a 1,500 J. Manley Garber Scholarship for a total amount of $3,000 in college aid.
NOVEC has introduced two new scholarships this year: one for a student who will attend HBCU and one for a student who will attend a vocational or trade school.
Selection committees will select students based on academic achievement, community service, work experience, and leadership skills.

The VMDAEC Education Scholarship Foundation will award scholarships of $1,000 to high school and home school seniors whose parents or guardians are members of NOVEC or one of 14 other electric cooperatives in Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland. The Foundation will select recipients based on financial need, academic achievement, and personal data.
Applicants must be attending a technical/trade school or college in Fall 2022. Find application and guidelines at vmdaec.com/scholarship
VMDAEC will send scholarship funds directly to the educational institution selected by the recipient to assist with tuition fees, room and board, student fees, or the purchase of books.
