Koronadal City The Soccsksargen Foreign Workers Welfare Department (OWWA-12) urges eligible dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) to take advantage of their scholarship programmes.
In a statement Friday, Marilou Sumalinog, director of OWWA-12, said they are now accepting applications for the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and the Congressional Migrant Worker Scholarship Program (CMWSP).
“We highly encourage beloved Overseas Filipino recipients to take advantage of these scholarship programs as it will be of great financial benefit to your family members’ burdens in the Philippines, especially now that we are facing the 2019 coronavirus pandemic,” Sumalinog said.
She said that siblings or children of one of the Filipino workers in the Philippines who have no failing grades and a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 80 percent equivalency in all academic and non-academic subjects while attending the last year with full pregnancy can apply for the EDSP scholarship .
“EDSP scholars who wish to enroll in a 4-5 year baccalaureate course at any preferred colleges or universities can benefit from annual assistance of PhP 60,000 to cover tuition and other miscellaneous fees,” said Sumalinog.
Meanwhile, the CMWSP is for the children or siblings of unmarried OWWA members who have no fail grades, a GWA of at least 85 percent and no family income of more than $2,400 or equivalent.
“Former Filipino workers who wish to further their education provided that they are 45 years old at the time of application can also apply as a CMWSP Scholar,” Sumalinog said.
Eligible applicants for both scholarship programs are graduating from 12th grade, unmarried and no more than 21 years old.
The deadline for submission of requirements is February 18, 2022.
