PAMA Mark Brunner Scholarship Enters Its Second Year

The recipients are students going into the professional audio field

The Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA), in partnership with Shure Inc. The Mark Brunner Professional Audio Scholarship is annually for students around the world who are pursuing their education in professional audio. The $2,000 scholarship is targeted at the recipient following a passion for sound in an accredited audio program.

The scholarship honors longtime Shure CEO, PAMA founding member, and leading voice in the audio community, who has had an unwavering passion for education and mentorship throughout his career. PAMA and Shure will be concerned with how the applicant plans to share their knowledge with others in a manner consistent with Brunner’s legacy.

Applicants must have a degree in professional audio and be enrolled in an accredited program. Each will submit a 300-word essay about why they are pursuing an audio degree and how they plan to apply the knowledge they gain through this education. Applicants are encouraged to provide in detail how they plan to share their knowledge with others in a manner consistent with Mark Brunner’s legacy.

Brunner, who was vice president of global corporate and government relations when he unexpectedly passed away on October 1, 2020, has worked at Shure since 1989 and held various positions during his tenure with the company. Much of his focus was related to the company’s industry-led lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C., to advance the pro-voice industry’s interests in wireless device regulation, frequency spectrum allocation, and other critical issues.

The inaugural winners of the scholarship’s first two awards were announced in August. The deadline for applications for the 2022 Awards will be announced.
