The areas of research in Entrepreneurship, Sustainability and Diversity fall within the Department of Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (DSIE). Faculty and PhD students conduct influential research on entrepreneurship, its diverse contexts, and the intersection of sustainability, diversity and entrepreneurship. DSIE members are world-renowned academics in their fields, whose research and academic work is accredited through multidisciplinary, funded, multi-partner research programmes, and engage with national and international research communities to inform policy, practice, and research published in leading entrepreneurship and innovation journals. DSIE invites applications from prospective doctoral students from diverse academic backgrounds, who strive for excellence, who aspire to influence policy and practice, and pursue relevant and responsible research in the areas of entrepreneurship, sustainability and diversity to effect change. Prospective candidates will be expected to achieve this by working at the interface of related disciplines such as business administration, sociology, economics, philosophy and geography, and engaging with members of selected entrepreneurship ecosystems and research communities as key stakeholders in order to generate evidence-based evidence. DSIE houses the Center for Research, Center for Inclusive and Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CISEI). Our activities are organized around the research labs on “Entrepreneurship Ecosystems”, “Philosophy and Entrepreneurship”, “No Opportunity”, “Knowledge Exchange”, “Digital Business”, “Family Business”, and “Extraordinary Innovation” ‘, ‘Inequality and Social Inclusion’ and ‘Non-Cooperative Spaces’. Through these labs, we connect with entrepreneurs, business leaders, policy makers, and academics in these areas in an inclusive manner that allows all parties to participate in the creation, assessment, and transformation of their people and organizational experiences.

Our PhD program has been awarded full-time students +3 rating by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and has also received research scholarships from ESRC and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for its PhD program. the The scholarships consist of full tuition fees and an annual stipend of £15,509 (£1,292.42 per month) For 3 years, it is open to both UK, EU and international/foreign students. The ideal candidates will own Bachelor’s degree with first degree and Master’s degree with distinction or equivalent in any of our broad disciplines of business and management. Candidates will also need to meet the standard entry requirements for PhD students as well as a strong research proposal.
