Police arrest student suspected of bringing unloaded gun to Orangewood High School in Redlands – Redlands Daily Facts

The Redlands Police Department said Wednesday, December 8, that a student at Orangewood High School in Redlands has been arrested after an empty “ghost gun” was found on campus, along with stolen suspect property.

James Anthony Jones, 18, of San Bernardino, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of possession of a firearm on the school grounds and possession of stolen property, said Carl Baker, a spokesman for the city of Redlands. In a press release, Baker said police were contacted after school administrators informed them that Jones was carrying a firearm on campus.

The press release said campus security called Jones and found a backpack containing the gun.

Baker said the rifle was “uncharged, unserialized” and designed to be a “ghost rifle.”

Stealth Guns are virtually untraceable and can be assembled by unlicensed buyers from legally purchased kits.

Police also found stolen property from several car burglaries that occurred outside of Redlands. No other information about the suspected theft was immediately available.

“There is no indication that Jones made any threats against anyone on campus and no other ammunition or weapons were found,” Baker said in the press release.
