Scholarships Available to High School Seniors Through Port of Long Beach – NBC Los Angeles

Long Beach Unified School District high school students can apply for undergraduate scholarships from the Port of Long Beach Scholarship Program today through March 1.

Scholarships are available to high school seniors who wish to pursue careers in international trade, logistics, and other port-related industries.

“Students who apply for and receive port scholarships are the future of the marine industry, they are the leaders of the future,” said Mario Cordero, Executive Director of Port of Long Beach. “I would encourage all eligible students to apply.”

The port will distribute a total of $200,000 in scholarships in 2022, with individual grants ranging from $500 to $5,000. Scholarships are available to full-time and part-time students, as well as students enrolled in business programmes.

“These scholarships can make a difference for the many students who will attend college in the fall. “I am delighted that we were able to offer more scholarships as part of our comprehensive educational outreach program,” said Stephen Neal, Long Beach Harbor Committee Chair.

Applications, which can be submitted online at https://bit.ly/3fpEa66, will not be accepted after 1 March. Scholarships at Long Beach City College, California State Long Beach, and California Maritime Academy are handled by the school’s scholarship application office, and people can contact them for details.

Winners will be notified in April or May.
