Schuylkill launches online community, info sessions for incoming students

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pennsylvania – New Penn State Schuylkill students may not be able to participate in their regular on-campus orientation events this summer, but they will still be able to meet classmates, make new friends, and network with faculty and staff.

Through LionConnect, the online Penn State Schuylkill Center for Student Events and Organizations, new students can participate in the fall 2020 Incoming Class collection. From there, students can share messages, photos, and videos with each other in the group news feed; Hear from current students and Spring 2020 alumni; and register for more than a dozen informational sessions designed to help them adjust to their new college home.

“The LionConnect group operates similarly to social media group pages, with the added advantage of being a private platform only for the campus community,” said Brian Valentine, Director of Student Affairs and Engagement at Penn State Schuylkill. “We have a great assortment of programming for our new students, and I look forward to getting to know all of them and welcoming them to the Penn State Schuylkill.”
