SIORF accepting Scholarship applications for College, Trade and Technical Schools
Deadline April 15
Soroptimist International of Olympic Rain Forest (SIORF) is now accepting applications for their Soroptimist Scholarships. These are both “first-time SIORF scholarships” for female seniors graduating on the West End and “renewal SIORF scholarships” for those who were awarded a Soroptimist scholarship in the past and are still pursuing their degree.
SIORF is also accepting applications for the Roger W. Hull Family Scholarships funded by the Hull Family Foundation through United Way and managed for Forks students by SIORF. This scholarship is open to both male and female students from Forks and LaPush, including past graduates who have not yet completed a college degree or job training program.
SIORF Scholarships: Soroptimist International seeks to provide women and girls around the world with resources and opportunities to reach their full potential and live their dreams. SIORF supports this effort on the West End by giving annual scholarships to graduating senior girls, including Forks, LaPush, Clallam Bay and Neah Bay. Applications have been sent to the high school counselors in each of these communities for distribution. Applicants must be accepted to a college, technical school, or trade school for the 2022-2023 academic year to qualify. SIORF has almost tripled their financial commitment to these scholarships for 2022.
The Roger W. Hull Scholarship money is provided by the Hull Family Foundation. The Hulls operated Peninsula Telecom, the telephone company in Forks for many years. SIORF manages the application and selection process for this scholarship in Forks. Applications have been provided to high school counselors in the Quillayute Valley School District and the Quileute Tribal School. Applicants must be accepted to a college, technical school, or trade school for the 2022-2023 academic year to qualify. The funds available fluctuate each year based on investment returns earned by the Foundation. In 2021, Hull scholarships given to Forks community graduates totaled $13,159.
The contact for these scholarships is Susan Trettvik, SIORF Scholarship Committee Chair, [email protected] or 360-374-5728. Applications must be mailed to SIORF, PO Box 502, Forks, WA 98331 or emailed to Susan at the email address above. All applications are due to SIORF by April 15, 2022. If you wish to apply but are unable to find an application, please email or call Susan to request a copy.
