NEW BRITAIN – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain will donate thousands of scholarship dollars for area residents interested in continuing education.
The scholarships are available to high school senior class students in New Britain, Berlin, Plainville and Southington, and selected scholarships are available to students in Farmington, Newington and Wethersfield. The CFGNB has made scholarships of more than $3,000 available through funds managed and scholarships are also available to local students who are already enrolled in higher education.
The foundation awarded 98 scholarships from over 53 separate donor-established funds last year totaling $324,265 in funds. Foundation President David Obedzinski said the foundation is expected to break records of donations received.
“In 2021 we awarded the largest amount of scholarship dollars in our history,” Obedzinski said, “and we are on track to break that record in 2022 due to generous donors who have established new scholarships with us or made gifts to their already established funds .”
Most applications are due by March 15. Students enrolled in a public high school should have their guidance counselors about available scholarships and their deadlines. All applicants must create an account online at the scholarship overview page on the CFGNB website.
