The CFMT Foundation Seeks Scholarship Applicants by Feb. 1

Nashville, Tennessee – The Community Foundation of Central Tennessee, a charitable organization that connects generosity and need in 40 counties from Middle Tennessee and beyond, has announced that the annual scholarship application process is now open and invites students to apply by February 1, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. Central time , at www.cfmt.org/scholarships.

The Foundation operates more than 150 scholarship funds, established by individuals, companies, and civic groups in 40 counties of Middle Tennessee as well as in Kentucky’s Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties. Students may be eligible for multiple scholarships and only need to submit one application.

Whether a student is studying law, horticulture, aviation, or cosmetology, plans a career in criminal justice or teaching, or is studying at a four-year technical school or university, the Community Foundation Scholarship Program supports individuals from different backgrounds and communities seeking funding for educational opportunities .

Scholarships are also available to Middle Tennessee students who are legally blind or cancer survivors.

“There are many great ways to give back, but seeing our community members give back to ensure students across Middle Tennessee get an education is, in my opinion, one of the best,” said CFMT Scholarships Coordinator Kelly Petkevich. “Education is the real key to many successes in life, and our donors make this possible for students from all walks of life.”

The deadline for scholarship applications is several weeks earlier than in previous years.

“Just as we pride ourselves on listening to and carrying out the wishes of our donors, we also value feedback from students and advisors,” Petkevich said. “With all of these things in mind, we are excited to move the application schedule to parallel national scholarships and better financial aid processes. By closing the application on February 1, we will be able to get students decisions on their applications before the national college decision deadline on May 1 so they can include their awards in their education decisions.”

In 2021, a total of $745,000 in scholarship money was awarded to the Community Foundation.

Students attend 151 unique colleges and universities from 31 states, with three international students from Canada.
