The NRAEF Scholarships and Scholarships seek to ease the financial burden of secondary education and support future leaders in industry. In 2021, as students continue to face unprecedented epidemiological and economic challenges, the NRAEF receives an award $1.1 million in scholarships and individual grants to more than 300 students at more than 130 colleges and universities in 44 states and territories. Nearly 60 percent of the 2021 scholarship recipients were Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC); Half were first-generation college students; and 70 percent of women.
“I plan to use my education to open my own upscale pastry shop that gives back to the community in a meaningful way, both by hiring people who face employment barriers through job training programs and also by giving a percentage of the proceeds back to the community” Stephanie Lowe, holds a 2021 NRAEF scholarship and is a Baking and Pastry Arts Specialist at the Culinary Education Institute. “My dream of owning a sweet shop is an opportunity to spice up the neighborhood and develop employees from all walks of life. Financial assistance through NRAEF is a huge help in achieving my short and long-term career goals.”
NRAEF scholarships range from 2500 dollars to $10,000 It can be used to cover tuition, books, room and board, as well as other school-related expenses. Scholarships have no age restrictions. All those pursuing a higher education in restaurant, food service, and hospitality are encouraged to apply – including recent high school graduates, members of the military, adults looking to make a career change or individuals at various levels of education.
