Tiger Scholarship Fund Announces Series of New Hires, Promotion

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Athletics’ Tiger Scholarship Fund is growing and evolving, following a set of new hires and a promotion designed to streamline operations and better service the needs of members in 2022 and beyond.

“We are thrilled to welcome such a talented group of people to our development team,” Associate Athletic Director for Development Blair DeBord said. “We’ve been able to generate great momentum this past year with fundraising accomplishments, which is a direct reflection of our incredible fans and supporters. These development staffing additions will only accelerate our donor engagement and progress in fundraising, which will ultimately allow us to support our programmes, coaches and student-athletes at an even higher level.”

Taylor SandersonAssistant Athletic Director, Leadership Giving

Sanderson joins the department following spending 2018-21 as Director of Development, Major Gifts at the University of Missouri, where one of his team’s accomplishment included breaking the school’s all-time fundraising record by raising $55 million in 2020-21. Prior to that, Sanderson spent a year and a half at the University of Nebraska as Development Assistant. Sanderson and his wife, Shauna, have one daughter, Olivia.

At Memphis, Sanderson is tasked with overseeing the strategic growth of the Tiger Leadership Circle and the major gift fundraising team.



Christina WiatrAssistant Athletic Director, Annual Fund
Wiatr comes to the TSF after serving as Associate Manager with The Wasserman Group Sports & Entertainment Agency, focusing on AT&T’s partnership with the College Football Championship and New Year’s Six Bowl Games and NCAA events including the Men’s and Women’s Final Four. Wiatr also served as Lead Generation and Development Specialist for ALSAC/St Jude Children’s Research Hospital (2013-15), Guest Relations Coordinator for American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX (2008-10) and Group Sales with the Memphis Grizzlies (2007). The Collierville, Tenn., native and her husband, CJ, are proud parents of a daughter and two sons.


Wiatr’s role at Memphis is to oversee the operations, marketing and branding of the Tiger Scholarship Fund as a whole.



Brock McWhorterDirector of Annual Fund & Letterwinner Relations
McWhorter has been a member of the Memphis Athletic Department since 2013, growing in roles from a graduate assistant to now the Director of Annual Fund & Letterwinner Relations. McWhorter’s new position involves assisting in the operations and growth of the Tiger Scholarship Fund and oversight of the M Club and former student-athlete relationships.


A native of the Memphis area, McWhorter is a two-time graduate of the University of Memphis and is set to earn a third degree in 2022. As an undergraduate, McWhorter served as a student manager for the men’s basketball team under Josh Pastner from 2010 -12. During this time, the program had a record of 51-19, won two conference championships and made two NCAA Tournament appearances.



Ashley DanielCoordinator of Athletic Gift Processing & Business Operations
Prior to joining the TSF, Daniel was the assistant softball coach at Southwest Tennessee Community College from 2018-21, where she served as the team’s pitching coach. Daniel enjoys spending her free time with her husband, Taylor, and their dogs.


Her role with the Tiger Scholarship Fund is to assist with daily gift processing and overall office management.
