Generosity toward others is the essence of the holiday spirit.
If you’re looking for an alternative gift this holiday season, consider making a donation to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund and support a child in need.
The Greenwich Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund provides Greenwich youth with access to recreational programs. Through the Scholarship Fund, income-eligible families will have positive experiences and active lifestyles, as well as opportunities to gain and hone life skills through our recreational programs.
“The goal of the scholarship fund is to make sure that every child who wants to participate in one of our programs can,” said Scott Johnson, Parks and Recreation’s Chairman. “Every child deserves the opportunity to participate in camp and other recreational programs, and winter fundraising gives the Parks and Recreation Department time to identify scholarships for distribution by early spring, giving recipients time to enroll in generally needed programs such as camps and sports programs.”
The Scholarship Fund is a core area of the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation.
“Our goal is to ensure that the scholarship fund is sustainable over the years so that we can continue to meet the financial needs of our community,” Johnson explained.
The Scholarship Fund is supported entirely by donations from local businesses, community service organizations, businesses, and individuals, and 100% of contributions to this fund go directly to support Greenwich Youth Scholarships. Consider making a donation in honor or memory of a loved one or a gift in the name of a loved one rather than sending a gift.
The mission of the Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department is to provide high quality leisure opportunities through safe, well-organized and affordable programs of special activities and events.
The Parks and Recreation Department facilitates a range of recreation opportunities for all age groups that promote the growth and physical, intellectual, social and cultural development of the city’s residents. The department ensures reasonable access to all programs by bridging physical and economic gaps that may hinder participation.
The Parks and Recreation Foundation is a 509(a)(1) nonprofit, and donations are fully tax-deductible. To donate safely online, visit:
