Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dami launched a free mobile tablet scheme for students here on Saturday.

About 2 lakh 65,000 class 10 and 12 students from degree colleges and state schools will benefit from the scheme, according to government data.


The state government official said that R12,000 was awarded by DBT to purchase portable tablets for Class 10 and 12 students of State Government Schools.

Prime Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dami distributed free tablets to 100 female students from the Government Joint College for Girls on Rajpur Road in Dehradun. On Saturday, this program was organized in all 70 Vidhan Sabhas of the state. The Prime Minister also announced that an auditorium would be built at the Government Girls’ Joint College, Rajpur Road.

DBT has already transferred money to 1 lakh 59 thousand students from grade 10 and 12 of government schools to purchase the tablet.

Prime Minister Pushkar Singh Dami said, “During the Corona period, children have faced a lot of difficulties in attending online lessons, considering the problems children are facing, tablets are given to them by the government.


He further said that India is a young country with 65 per cent of the country’s population under 35 years old. The country is progressing rapidly under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India has become self-reliant.

He said the state government is making all possible efforts to improve the quality of education in the state. “Virtual classes are running in 500 state schools under digital learning. These services will soon start in another 600 schools as well. 1,418 smart classrooms are being built in 709 state public schools, and this work will be completed by January 15, 2022.”

According to the state government, free textbooks will be made available to students of grades 9 to 12 in all state schools. Besides, free bags and shoes are also provided to students of grades 1-8 in government schools.


The government has also decided to increase the amount of scholarships nationwide while keeping in mind the interest of students. The amount of the Shivanand Nautiyal State Scholarship Merit has been increased from R250 to R1,500 per month The number of students benefiting has also been increased from 11 to 100. The Sridev Suman Scholarship amount has also been increased from R150 to R1,000. Under Prime Minister Pratibha Protsahan Yojana, Scholarship from R2500 is awarded to outstanding students in class 12 for the next five years.

The Prime Minister appealed to the people of the state that vigilance is necessary to protect one from the new COVID-19 variant Omicron. He said that everyone should follow appropriate behavior for COVID-19. “The government has made all preparations to protect against Corona, but vigilance is very important to prevent it,” said Dami.
