Valenzuela City to reopen online scholarship application on Jan. 3 – Manila Bulletin

Incoming first-year students residing in Valenzuela can apply online for the Dr. Bio Valenzuela Scholarship Program from January 3 to March 4, 2022.

The Dr. Bio Valenzuela Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to poor students to continue their education in public and private colleges and universities.

The program was implemented through Municipal Council Law No. 12 of 1995 which was amended in 2009 by City Decree No. 37.

Eligible applicants are entitled to P30,000 annually, and receive P15,000 per semester, as described in City Code 37.

The scholarship covers all baccalaureate or college and university programs under General Academic Branches (GAS), Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and Accounting, Business and Management (ABM) lines.

The scholarship is applicable to public and private colleges and universities accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), in accordance with city law.

Scholarship applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens and permanent residents of the city of Valenzuela. Students who have resided in the city for at least four years prior to their application are also eligible.

Applicants must be graduates of any public or private high school in the city, having studied for four consecutive years. They must also be the least advantaged grade 12 students enrolled in any program within the GAS, STEM, HUMSS, and ABM branches.

The scholarship requires applicants to have a general weighted average (GWA) of 85% and above with no grades in any subject below 85 in the first to fourth grade period from grades 9 to 10, and in the first and second semesters from grade 11.

Parents of employed applicants must have an annual gross income of less than P120,000.

Eligible applicants will undergo an online interview via Google Meet or Messenger once their application has been submitted and verified.
