VSAC scholarship application deadline is Feb. 11

WINOOSKI, Vt. Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) offers a wide range of online resources, advice, step-by-step assistance, and plenty of encouragement to help you plan college or internships, whether you’re a high school senior learner or an adult ready to update your skills for a new career.

An important deadline is approaching Friday, February 11th – it’s the last day to apply for scholarships with the help of VSAC.
For students applying to college in 2022 or looking for financial aid for continuing undergraduate study or continuing education, it pays for research grant opportunities. The Internet is brimming with all kinds of scholarships available to students of certain backgrounds or interested in specific career fields, and the search can be overwhelming.

Each year, VSAC compiles a brochure of scholarships for opportunities available only to residents of Vermont. It’s important to note that many of these scholarships receive only 100 or so applicants – which means you may have a higher chance of winning a Vermont-specific scholarship than you would if you were competing nationally.

This year’s brochure includes information on 126 scholarships administered by VSAC, as well as an additional 35 scholarships administered by external organizations. Some scholarships offer one-time awards, while others are renewable, which means that a student can receive additional financial awards for each subsequent academic year. Annual award amounts generally range from $500 to $6000.

All of these opportunities require completion of the FAFSA and Standard Scholarship Application (USA), as well as a general essay. The VSAC brochure covers additional application requirements, such as letters of recommendation or transcripts, for each individual scholarship. Deadlines and requirements for non-VSAC scholarships vary.

Download the scholarship brochure 2022-2023, order a hard copy by mail, or check with your school’s counseling office to see if they have requested copies. Anyone with questions is encouraged to speak with a VSAC outreach counselor at their school, visit vsac.org, and email [email protected] Or call 888-253-4819.
