Women in tech are making waves at Northern Kentucky University

When empowered women are fortified with top-notch education, excellence follows. This philosophy underpins the programs at Northern Kentucky University (NKU), a learning hive where women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) are carving their names in careers of the future.

Japanese student Momoka Kinder exemplifies NKU’s innovative spirit to her core. The senior Cybersecurity major was part of the duo that won the Best Undergrad Research Poster award at the Women in Cybersecurity 2021 Symposium. Kinder has come a long way from not knowing anything about her field, thanks to the advice and guidance she received along the way.

“The connections I made in the NKU Cyber Defense team (NKCyber) landed me my dream internship at Kroger,” she says. “I got all these opportunities because of NKU. When I first started then I had no clue it would lead up to this.” Kinder’s positive can-do attitude, combined with her NKU training, led her to an internship at Kroger, one of the largest retailers in the US.
