Washington State Community College is offering $1,000 scholarships to support and encourage current students to continue and new students to enroll for the Spring 2022 semester.
The Foundation is also continuing to distribute the remaining funds available from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF).
In an effort to provide more opportunities for students to pursue higher education, WSCC offers two different scholarships for the spring semester – Spring Beginning and Spring Achievement. The Spring Start Scholarship is available to new students who plan to enroll in WSCC during the Spring 2022 semester.
The Spring Achievement Scholarship is available to current WSCC students who are continuing their enrollment in Spring 2022.
Both scholarship opportunities will be awarded on a competitive basis for the spring semester and are valued at up to $1,000. Scholarship applications are available at wscc.edu/scholarships. The deadline to apply for these spring scholarships is December 15th.
In addition, the Foundation will continue to distribute HEERF. With this money, WSCC offers two types of support. The first, designated by the college as a Community Impact Scholarship, covers the cost of up to 15 credit hours of tuition and course fees.
The second type of support is for students who need emergency help. This money will be awarded to help with expenses beyond tuition such as transportation, access to technology, and childcare. Since the College has a limited amount of HEERF funds available, it will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Applications are available on the college website at wscc.edu/current/financial-aid/covid-resources/.
To be considered for any of these funds, students are required to have the 2021-2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the college. For questions about any of the available resources as well as to make an appointment for FAFSA assistance, call the Financial Aid Department at 740-568-1908 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking beyond the spring semester, WSCC also has scholarship opportunities available for the 2022-23 academic year.
In order to be considered for nearly $300,000 in scholarships through both the college and WSCC, students only need to fill out one simplified scholarship application called the One and Done Application. The deadline to apply for scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year is March 15, 2022. Applications can be found at wscc.edu/scholarships
